The Maple Ridge Chorus will be performing two spring concerts at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maple Ridge.

‘Awakening: A Journey from Shadows to Serenity’, is a moving musical exploration of conflict, hope, and the quest for peace.

This thoughtfully curated program takes the audience from the depths of struggle and darkness toward light, empowerment, and renewal, reflecting the resilience of the human spirit, explained Thyra Gillese, president of the Maple Ridge Choral Society.

“Our choir has continued to grow in numbers and skill under the direction of our Artistic Director, Frank Zieginson. The theme and pieces for this concert were chosen long before we started practicing them in January, and I am so excited for our audience to experience this timely journey along with us,” noted Gillese, who added the powerful choral works will evoke the tension between despair and hope, culminating in uplifting anthems of light and aspiration.

There will be heartfelt solos and rich ensemble pieces.

“The concert invites you to journey from earth to sky, from whispering to shouting, and from questioning to resolution. Let the music carry you on this inspiring path toward serenity and connection,”  added Gillese.

There will only be 180 tickets available for each concert. Cash sale tickets will only be available at the door if they don’t sell out online in advance.

The concert takes place Friday, May 23, at 7 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 25.
Established in 1933, the Maple Ridge Choral Society, which performs as the Maple Ridge Chorus, is the longest continually running community choir in the area. It is an all-inclusive, non-audition mixed choir.
